'Dancing Clothes' takes you to appreciate a different Huangmei opera!
Recently, Huangmei Opera has a new look. Huangmei opera 'Dancing Clothes', created and rehearsed by Hubei Opera Art Theater, premiered at the Shouyi Theater of Hubei Opera Art Center on April 15 and 16 for two consecutive nights.
The gorgeous Tang Dynasty weather, poetic humanistic atmosphere, and the wonderful performance of Yang Jun, one of the "Five Golden Flowers" of Huangmei Opera, attracted many fans.
Huangmei Opera "Dancing Clothes" is a large-scale stage play and work creation grant project of the National Arts Fund in 2023. The play takes Yuan Zai, one of the four great greeds in Chinese history, and his wife Wang Yunxiu as the protagonists, reproduces the process of Yuan Zai from a cold warrior to an official who worships Xiangguo and is an extremely powerful minister, and then caused his demise due to corruption, and tells a cautionary story of "knowing today's glass of wine, why should I take it endlessly".
The play took three years to create, and many aspects such as stage beauty, music, and costumes have been carefully designed and polished. The beauty of the makeup and the elegance of the stage are particularly prominent.
The stage is simple and condensed, creating "poetry" and "virtual reality" with elegance, showing the abstract and freehand beauty of opera, integrating modern aesthetic consciousness into the traditional body of Huangmei opera, and at the same time singing a sad and happy life through classical verve, interpreting modern philosophy.
